Intuition is one of the most fantastic tools at our disposal, yet it is the most suppressed and often least trusted of all senses. Intuition is not a vague and inconsistent phenomenon that cannot be counted on - it is a function of your Soul itself. Since you most definitely have a Soul, it just becomes a matter of learning how to access and cultivate your inherent intuitive abilities. Your intuition is as much apart of you as your arm or your leg. And, just like your arms and legs, your intuition is available to you to call upon when you need it. After all, you never sit and wait for your arms or legs to move of their own accord, right? When you want to walk across a room, your legs do this for you—because of your intent. You know where you want to go, and your legs take you there.
In fact according to Carl Jung, intuition is one of the four basic functions of the human brain. Intuition is a unique form of communication we have within ourselves and with ourselves. When the subconscious mind passes information to the conscious mind for example, this is a form of inner communication that enables us to see and feel things differently and notice things we can not explain by logic. Once we channel into this special form of inner communication, or communication with our Higher Selves, we can benefit from it in many ways.
When you learn to use this 6th sense accurately and reliably, it can save you money, energy, and a lot of frustration. Our intuition can show you the quickest way towards a desired goal and keep you on path. It can even help you you embrace your life purpose and avoid unnecessary roadblocks on our path.
There are certainly things you can do to learn how to access intuitive knowledge with the same sure level of dependability and accuracy as your legs respond to your intentions! Most people unfortunately only turn to their intuition when faced with uncertainty around a major life decision. It becomes a last resort, and when accessed in fear it will often be a distorted message.
The best place to start applying your intuition is with life’s everyday choices, where your emotional investment is not so high and you are not caught in a web of fear. Sometimes, intuitive insight is inconvenient. You have to be prepared to trust it even if it doesn't suit your ego. In our collective consciousness, being true to our word is held in high regard. We are taught to keep our commitments,to follow through on plans made. But what is our commitment to ourselves? If something feels truly wrong, should we follow through just because we said we would? Or do we make room for our own personal Truth, and allow our intuition to guide us towards our highest path and purpose?
I can think back to quite a few instances when I’ve regretted ignoring my intuitive insights! When you are in tune with your intuition, you develop an innate sense of what path is right for you. You don’t waste your resources on little detours that lead nowhere. You are on a direct path to growth and fulfillment, and life runs more smoothly. Wonderful synchronicities and happy coincidences happen frequently. Doors and windows of opportunity that you may otherwise have missed become obvious. And you no longer pursue the seemingly obvious opportunities that in reality would lead you nowhere.
Acting on your intuition take COURAGE. You need to trust yourself above all other information that may be in conflict with your intuition and sometimes you have to be prepared to be wrong and not be too hard on yourself as you learn how to truly use this resource. You will not be able to quickly, accurately and dependably access your intuition, however, unless you practice. Once you’ve internalized your intuitive process, it will become second-nature to you. It will be available to you instantly, whether you’re in a meditative state or doing the dishes, or standing in line at the grocery store. While it does require some effort, the process of connecting to your intuition is fun, and you will learn a lot about yourself.
HERE ARE 11 SIMPLE WAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR INTUITION:
SPEND TIME ALONE: Taking time out to be with your essential self will allow you to be mindful and present so you can read your own energy signature. You will be less distracted by other people's energy and drama. This will provide you with the space to connect inwards and develop a stronger connection with the wise one within. The more time you spend alone, the more sensitive you will become to discerning between what is a thought and and what is intuition insight.
LISTEN TO YOUR BODY: Start tuning into your body's signals and notice what it is communicating to you. Start to notice the physiological and physical signs that your body uses to notify you of information that is important to you. Your energy body will pick up on information from the etheric realms way before your mind can catch up. Information will be expressed through your body and often warn you in advance to your mind. Notice what your body is telling you.
STOP ASKING FOR ADVICE: Turning to others for advice for everyday challenges can disconnect you from your own power as it sends a message to your unconscious mind that your inner self cannot be trusted. Start to turn to your inner guru instead of continually asking other people for their advice or opinion. If you need answers or advice, inquire within. Over time you will develop a stronger connection with your wise one within and this will allow the transmission of intuitive information to come through stronger and more reliably.
CONTEMPLATE + CONNECT WITH NATURE: Make the time to reconnect with the organic nature of creation. Pay attention to the details of the plant and animal kingdoms and allow yourself to be filled with a stare of wonder. Contemplating creation and all of existence will expand your soul and your consciousness will begin to open up to allow uninterrupted spiritual transmission. Nature is also a gateway to your Higher Self. It has a unique way of grounding us and making us feel complete, at ease and relaxed. All these things are necessary to help you clearly receive intuitive messages.
DIGITAL DETOX: Unplug from digital media as it can distrot the electromagnetic frequency of energetic information trying to make its way into your awareness. Aside from the distraction, it also pollutes your aura with energetic imprints that cut you off from the clear transmission of your own soul.
DREAM JOURNAL: Keep a dream journal and record any symbols, colours, themes and feelings you recall frequently. Pay attention to the messages being relayed in dreamscape. Dreams are impressions of our subconscious mind. If your intuition is not able to reach you consciously, then often the messages will be transmitted via dreams to enable you to act on what is for your highest good. Start paying attention and sit an contemplate the EMOTIONAL ENERGY of the dream rather than intellectually interpreting the symbols. You could also get a good dream interpretation dictionary but also instead of taking these interpretations literally, apply them to your own reality and do not interpret the themses literally.
MEDITATE + PRAY: Meditation and meditative prayer allows you to be present. Your intuition will not be able to clearly access your conscious mind if you are not in a state of conscious awareness. Meditating helps you de-clutter your mental and emotional junk that can distort intuitive messages. By being in the present moment, you are a clear channel for spiritual transmission. Mindfulness will help you focus on the present moment by helping you pay closer attention to your body and surroundings.
GET CREATIVE: Engaging in creative activities disrupts your monkey mind and ego and therefore interrupts your mind from distorting intuitive messages. When you are engaged in a creative activity you are in an altered state of consciousness which connects you deeper to your intuition. Music, reading, writing, painting or any other hobby that enables you to drop deeper into your subconscious mind and start accessing information that is otherwise not in your reach. Creativity allows you to drop into your state of inner flow and it is in this state of non resistance that intuitive messages finally find their way into your awareness.
TRUST YOUR GUT: Notice your feelings and thoughts as a different form of communication and information. Do not dismiss these flash images. They mean something. Figuring out the message is your mission. Pay attention to your initial feeling when you meet someone or when you go to a place. Each situation is full of signs and symbols. Nothing is coincidental. It only takes a trained mind’s eye to see and interpret these signs and symbols. In order to achieve this you have to learn to trust your feelings. Allow yourself to drop into your belly and get out of your head. u
DISSOCIATE: Learn how to become detached from situations and how they make you feel. By setting up an energetic boundary, it allows you to maintain your own energy signature and better read your own energy baseline so that when intuitive messages come through, you will be better to discern between what is your mind and what is beyond the mind. In order to come to an objective conclusion, you need to let go of your fears, your subjectivity and your feelings. Perhaps you find yourself in a situation that reminds you of a past experience. If you dive into this new situation with the frame of mind and state of heart that past experience had put you in, you will be clouding your judgement and you won’t be able to see things clearly and objectively. This requires complete honesty with yourself and is not an easy thing to do sometimes. But with meditation, you can certainly make faster progress. Disconnecting the habit to personalise situations will allow your consciousness to access the power of now and your intuitive gifts will strengthen.
JOURNAL: Make the time to connect with your inner self and reflect on moments in your day. Take notes every time you notice and feel your intuition is communicating something to you. Track your progress and over time you will start to realise where your intuition was in fact right and
you will learn to trust it even more. A journal will help you see the details you would otherwise forget in time. It is a great tool to learn from your experiences and strengthen your intuition. Celebrate yourself when you go with your intuition and it worked in your favour as this will encourage you to keep trusting yourself and developing your intuitive sense.
